Laura goes above and beyond conventional speech therapy. She works closely with parents to share ongoing speech and language strategies to support the child’s long-term success. She has specialized training in areas that are often challenging to find among Speech Therapists including: oral-motor development to help children with excessive drooling, speech clarity, tongue thrust, and speech coordination. Additional areas of focus include late talkers, early language development, and gestalt language processing or echolalia.

Laura understands that each child’s communication development is beautiful and distinct. She believes in supporting regulation and connection, foundational pieces for communication. Laura integrates language and communication goals with sensory, movement, and play activities. She uses a whole-child approach by working closely with Occupational, Physical Therapists, and most importantly, parents.

Laura received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (undergraduate requirement for Speech-Language Pathologists) from the University of Vermont and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from St. John’s University in Queens in New York City. Over the course of her clinical career, she has worked in a variety of settings including a hospital, general education school, special education school, home health care for early intervention, beforing opening her own private practice.

Laura lives in Greenpoint Brooklyn with her husband and is happy to serve the Greenpoint and Williamsburg community in-person. She also sees parents virtually for parent guidance sessions for families living outside of New York City.
